One of the most significant advantages of having your own brand image library is the huge amount of time it saves. Whether for your next newsletter or blog post, the complementing image is just a few clicks away. It's all about streamlining your workflow and content creation. However, even with a bespoke library at your fingertips, you might need a specific image - one that's not already in your collection. This is where stock images steps in, with millions of photographs covering every subject under the sun.
Have you ever wondered how these stock images come to life? Allow me to pull back the curtain on my process of curating a versatile stock image library.
The creative process starts with a spark - an inspiratioinal colour, texture, storyline, or location. Really, the sky is the limit when it comes to creativity. For this collection, the thematic lead was a colour: a sophisticated, slightly darker hue of green.
The chosen location should not only align with the chosen narrative and colour palette but also provide enough walls and corners for architectual neutrals. It might seem straightforward, but securing the legal clearances when dealing with stock photos can be challenging.
Stock images are ideally crafted to be as versatile as possible, ensuring they can seamlessly integrate with a variety of businesses. This versatility does not preclude the inclusion of people; in fact, adding a human element can significantly enhance the image's effectiveness and relatability. This is the reason why I like to incorporate models into my stock image photo shoots. To be more precise, I collaborate with business owners who are open to modelling in exchange for brand images that are tailored for their businesses.
In order to keep my collections fresh and current, I am constantly searching for new ideas and inspiration. If you have an exciting concept for a gallery and need new brand imagery, please reach out. Let's start a conversation - I'm open to all possibilities!
